Walk the World
The journal to the hikes of my life.
Getting Started
Hiking is hard, and if you haven't done it before it may seem daunting to even think of beginning your first hike - but that's completely normal. However, with these tip and some advice, maybe you might feel more comfortable on taking on your first trail.
- Don't overestimate yourself, if your feel like that specific hike you have been excited to do seems too long, or too hard for you, don't do it. Keep to walks your level and what you're able to do.
- Invest in proper equipment. It is with huge importance that when you go walking for hours, you have the correct equipment to support you and your journey. Out of any equipment, the most significance is walking boots, as without walking boots you put yourself in danger of your feet getting blisters or injuries. Not only that, they support your legs and spine when walking up and down hill.
- Plan accordingly. Before you go on your hike, check the weather, bring snacks, being water and most importantly, let someone know you are going.
- Pack lightly - but smartly. Bring only necessary things to make you walk more enjoyable and easier. Pack food, water, a first aid kit, layers, and a map. However only bring what you think is important on your hike, because overpacking and having a backpack too heavy will ruin the hike for you.
